Viking Range Convection Fan Motor Failure
Viking ranges equipped with TruConvec convection use a dedicated fan and third element at the back of the oven cavity to circulate heated air for even cooking. A failed convection fan motor results in uneven baking — food may underbake on one side or require significantly longer cooking times. The convection fan can fail silently (no unusual noise before failure) or with an unusual sound during operation. On models that display a fault, the ERC may show an error. On others, poor cooking performance is the first sign.
What Causes the Convection Fan Fault Error?
The fan motor bearing wears over time and eventually seizes, preventing the fan from spinning. Bearing failure often presents with increased noise before complete failure.
