The most common cause of poor cleaning in a Viking dishwasher is a clogged filter assembly at the bottom of the tub. Viking dishwasher filters should be cleaned monthly — a heavily clogged filter restricts water circulation and dramatically reduces wash performance. If the filter is clean and cleaning is still poor, the wash pump or spray arm may require service.

Standing water in the tub after a cycle indicates a drain failure — most commonly a failed drain pump motor, a kinked or blocked drain hose, or a blocked household drain air gap at the sink. If you hear the drain pump attempting to run but water remains, the pump has likely failed and requires replacement.
