Viking Range F6 Fault Code
F6 on a Viking range or wall oven indicates the door latch position switch has failed to confirm latch status to the ERC. Unlike F5 — which indicates the latch motor circuit failed to complete travel — F6 means the motor may have completed its travel correctly but the position-confirmation switch is not reporting the locked or unlocked state. Self-clean mode cannot start with F6 active, but normal baking and broiling typically remain available.
What Causes the F6 Error?
The microswitch that reports latch position to the ERC has failed internally and cannot provide a confirmation signal in any latch position.
